Dendrobium Orchids

Dendrobium orchids are a popular, easy to grow orchid found throughout Hawaii.  We send a double spiked plant in a 4″ pot.  Single spike plants may be sent during the cooler Hawaiian ‘winter’ when growth slows. These lovely plants will re-bloom once a year or more. Dendrobiums are the same species of orchid we use for making our fresh Hawaiian leis.

Colors range from lavender, to pink to purple to green including some found only at our nursery partner. Each is carefully nurtured under filtered Hawaiian sun and the warmth of the nearby beach. These are not the factory orchids you find in big box stores and supermarkets on the mainland. Hawaiian orchids make a brilliant and unique gift. Consider them for Christmas, Valentine’s Day, or Mother’s Day. They also make a wonderful ‘thank you’ or housewarming gift.

Over time dendrobium orchids produce additional stalks that will have blooms. They can be very large and full making a remarkable display. You will need to repot your orchid from time to time as the roots begin to fill the pot. They like a smaller pot than other house plants.

Dendrobium orchid care is simple and remember not to overwater.

Our orchid grower may select an exotic orchid for your gift as well. It depends on the number of orchids ordered and what looks good to ship. Exotics include oncidium, brassia, compact cattleya and other crosses. Don’t worry, these are just as easy to care for as the dendrobiums and do not need a greenhouse or other special treatment.
