Hawaiian lei made in the local Anuenue style are infused with brilliant color. The name is from the Hawaiian word for rainbow. We offer this stylish woven lei in four different colors for you. The orchid blooms are sewn together in a slightly flat style. This lei is more than two inches wide and thirty eight inches long. The sewing style is more intricate than the typical single orchid lei.
Each orchid blossom is infused with red, blue, green or yellow color. This is a systemic infusion into the orchid, not a cheap spray-on dye. So it will not bleed out onto clothing. Using infused orchids lets the wear match a favorite color or school color. Or match the bride and groom’s chosen color scheme for their Hawaiian wedding.
This lei requires you to order 7 days before the shipping date. We need to prepare the color infused orchids and provide time our lei makers.
The original orchid heads are white and purple. Your selected color will stand out along the former white of the bloom and will blend nicely with the purple area. Choose a Hawaiian lei in blue, red, green or yellow. Blue orchids do not occur in nature so having a lei in this rich blue color is a rare treat.
Have your Hawaiian lei arrive the day before it’s needed. Mist lightly with clean water. Refrigerate the lei in a closed bag until ready to wear. You might extend the life of the lei by returning it to the refrigerator after it’s worn if you like.
You may have heard the Hawaiian word for rainbow before as it is commonly used for schools, place names and products as Hawaii’s weather mixture of showers and sun produces many rainbows. The pronunciation of anuenue is ‘ah-noo-way-noo-way.’
